
Media Assistant
Qualifications:
Job Summary/Purpose:
The role of the Media Assistant is a full-time position that assists with audio, visual, and other multimedia aspects within First Baptist Church. Through the cultivation and use of technology, you will take the greatest news that has ever touched earth to the world beyond the walls of our church building. The Media Assistant is a salaried, full-time position typically requiring 30-40 hours of work per week. This person will report to the Production Director (PD) and the Broadcast Media Director (BMD). The Media Assistant will work closely with the PD and BMD on a variety of Media based projects, which may include shooting/editing content for social media and services, installation and testing of new AV equipment, editing/archiving video and photo content, setting up worship spaces for services and events, and other general needs of the Media Department. This position is also responsible for running audio and lighting consoles, cameras, presentation software, and other necessary media positions for events, as well as weekly and weekend services as needed. This position requires a basic to intermediate understanding of audio/video systems, video production, and stage lighting systems. General knowledge of photography and video editing software is a plus.
Technical Leadership:
• Provide and maintain a high level of excellence in all areas of production to create an atmosphere conducive to worship that is free of distractions
• Assist BMD with creating and editing video announcements, reels, promotional videos, podcasts, photos, etc.
• Work as a production team member for weekend services, including audio, lighting, IMAG director, and camera operator
• Help ensure the capture and/or broadcast of worship services and events as directed by leadership
• Assist BMD with uploading and updating content for the local church television station
• Assist PD with stage designs, room setups, and general equipment maintenance
• Arrive and set up necessary equipment for worship team practices on time, as well as striking equipment after services/events
• Assist in setting up cameras and other audio-video equipment, as well as verify all A/V components are working properly for service/events
• Keep stages, production areas, and equipment storage areas clean and equipment organized
Administrative Support:
Performs various administrative duties related to the Production team to include:
• Attend weekly staff meetings, team times with Media staff, and other staff functions
• Assist with coordinating volunteer crews, making sure all positions are filled before services and events begin
• Be the eyes and ears for the production team and alert PD and BMD of any service changes and needs required thereof.
• Take initiative to resolve technical issues as they arise before bringing them to the attention of the Production Director and Broadcast Media Director
• work with PD and BMD to actively research new products, creative inspirations, and solutions that will assist in FBC Tifton’s mission in furthering the Gospel
Physical Requirement:
• Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 pounds
• Comfortable working on ladders at heights up to 16 feet and Genie lifts at heights up to 40 feet
• Able to stand for long periods during services/events
Qualifications and Skills:
• Minimum of two years of experience in some form of audio/visual/production background (preferably in a church/ministry setting)
• Associates or Bachelor's Degree preferred (Degrees in video production, multimedia, broadcasting, etc.)
• Ability to learn and use Planning Center Online software
• Basic knowledge of ProPresenter 7 presentation software
• Some working knowledge of DAWs, specifically ProTools
• Working knowledge of Adobe Premiere and Lightroom
• Basic experience and knowledge of projectors, LED video walls, and video control interfaces
• Basic knowledge of lighting systems and lighting consoles. Knowledge of Avolites consoles is a plus
• Basic to intermediate understanding of audio consoles. Knowledge of Digico and Yamaha consoles is a plus
• Demonstrate proficiency in understanding the elements of service flow, roles of tech, and media team members
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
• Work as needed during the week as a Production Lead for weekly worship services (college, student, Celebrate Recovery) and special events
• Training of new production team volunteers as needed
